This scarf has been woven by hand on a eight shaft countermarch loom from my studio in Bristol. 

Woven from a mix of wool from Manos del Uruguay and Rooster yarns. The wool is from Manos del Uruguay is 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Polyamide. The name of this wool Alegría means ‘joy’ in Spanish, and that’s just what this beautiful hand-painted yarn is – a true colour celebration! 

 

Manos del Uruguay are a non-profit organisation that supports local women to make a living while remaining in their local village and raising their families. They are renowned for their fantastic colours, which have become their trademark and have been producing beautiful, natural fibre, hand-dyed yarns since 1968. Their unique, luxurious yarns have been achieved through research and experimenting with traditional techniques for more than 50 years.

 

The undyed yarn is from Rooster yarns. This yarn uses 100% Bluefaced Leicester superwash wool from sheep in the British Isles. The Bluefaced Leicester sheep breed is well known for producing some of the finest British yarns – it’s wonderfully soft (26 micron) and has a characteristic lustre or silkiness, making it wonderful to work with.BFL superwash DK is made with 100% superwashed BFL wool. 


Measures approximately 36 cm wide X 193 cm long, not including fringe.

The scarf has been pre-washed.

Gently cold wash and dry flat. Do not tumble dry, reshape whilst wet.
